About this project

Metrolist is a feature-rich, open-source YouTube Music client for Android built with Material 3. It streams songs and videos from YouTube Music with background playback, offline caching, skip silence, and a sleep timer. Audio features include normalization, tempo/pitch control, a multi-band equalizer, and crossfade. Discovery and lyrics tools provide live synced lyrics with word-by-word highlighting, AI-powered lyrics translation, personalized quick picks, and full search across songs, albums, artists, videos, and playlists. Library management supports local playlists, playlist import, reordering, and full sync of songs, artists, albums, and playlists with a YouTube Music account. Social features include real-time listen-together sessions with friends (powered by the companion metroserver backend), Last.fm scrobbling, and safe Discord Rich Presence. The interface offers home screen widgets, light/dark/black/dynamic theme modes, dynamic color support, and 19 preset color palettes. Metrolist is distributed via Obtainium, IzzyOnDroid, OpenAPK, and direct GitHub releases (stable and nightly builds with Google Cast support). The project is in maintenance mode — only bug fixes and minor improvements are accepted. Translations are managed on Weblate. The app requires YouTube Music to be available in the user's region or a VPN/proxy to a supported region. It is not affiliated with YouTube or Google.
