About this project

Sandboxie-Activated provides a ready-to-use, pre-activated build of the Sandboxie isolation tool for Windows 10 and newer. It creates disposable sandbox environments where programs execute without writing permanently to the host filesystem, registry, or kernel objects. This allows users to test unknown executables, browse the web, or open suspicious documents while containing any modifications, malware payloads, or tracking artifacts inside the sandbox. The distribution packages version 3.2-alpha.2 as a standalone installer (~100 MB) with a guided setup wizard and a graphical control panel for managing multiple sandboxes, configuring resource access rules, and forcing specific applications to always launch sandboxed. Key capabilities include per-sandbox snapshots, quick recovery of downloaded files to the host, and integration with Windows Explorer context menus. The project hosts releases on GitHub and links to community support via issues. It targets home users and IT professionals seeking a lightweight, no-subscription alternative to virtual machines for endpoint hardening and safe software evaluation.
