About this project
ezBookkeeping is an open-source, self-hosted personal finance application for tracking daily income and expenses. It is designed for privacy and control, and can be deployed with a single Docker command. The project states it is resource-efficient enough to run on home servers, NAS devices and Raspberry Pi hardware.
Core bookkeeping features include two-level accounts and categories, image attachments on transactions, location tracking with maps, scheduled transactions, and advanced filtering, search, visualization and analysis. Users can analyze historical data with built-in charts or define custom chart dimensions.
Data import and export support a wide range of formats: CSV, Excel, OFX, QFX, QIF, IIF, Camt.052, Camt.053, MT940, GnuCash, Firefly III and Beancount, with custom column mapping, rules and scripts for CSV/Excel imports.
The interface is tailored for mobile and desktop, supports PWA installation on mobile home screens, customizable overview layouts and dark mode. Localization includes multi-language and multi-currency support, multiple exchange rate sources with automatic updates, multi-timezone support, and custom date, number and currency formats.
Security options include two-factor authentication, OIDC external authentication, login rate limiting, and an application lock via PIN code or WebAuthn.
AI-related capabilities listed by the project include text and receipt image recognition, AI custom chart generation, MCP (Model Context Protocol) integration, and agent skill and API command-line script tools.
Deployment options include Docker images, prebuilt binaries for Windows, macOS and Linux on x86, amd64 and ARM architectures, and building from source with Go, GCC, Node.js and NPM. Supported databases are SQLite, MySQL and PostgreSQL. A live demo and documentation are available, and the project is MIT licensed.
