About this project

Kirby Live Visitors is a plugin for Kirby 5+ that provides a visual representation of live site visitors using individual dots. It integrates with Plausible Analytics via the Stats API to fetch real-time aggregate data while implementing a custom server-side presence layer to handle immediate visitor heartbeats. Key features include: - Real-time visitor counting by combining Plausible API data with a local presence store. - Location-based coloring and smooth animations for visitor dots. - Privacy-first architecture: No cookies or client-side storage are used. Visitor identity is handled via a non-reversible, daily-rotating salted hash of IP and User-Agent strings. - Configurable dimensions for visitor breakdown, such as country, city, region, device, and browser. - Support for both Plausible.io and self-hosted Plausible instances. - Performance optimization through server-side caching to respect Plausible API rate limits. - Customizable styling via CSS custom properties and built-in dark mode support.
