About this project

Mattermost Desktop is the official native desktop application for the Mattermost open-source collaboration platform, built on Electron. It provides a dedicated client for Windows, macOS, and Linux, enabling users to access Mattermost servers with enhanced desktop integration. Key features include a server dropdown for multi-server access, dedicated tabs for Channels, Boards, and Playbooks, desktop notifications, unread channel/mention badges, deep linking for direct app access, and background operation to minimize open windows. The app supports custom data directory configurations and offers deployment guides for enterprise or pre-configured distributions. Installation is available via official downloads or GitHub releases, with configuration stored in platform-specific directories.
