About this project

claude-devtools is a free, open-source debugging companion for Claude Code. It addresses the lack of visibility in Claude Code's default output by reading existing session logs from `~/.claude/` and reconstructing detailed, interactive views of all activity. Features include: per-turn token attribution across 7 categories (e.g., CLAUDE.md, skills, tool I/O), syntax-highlighted file reads with line numbers, inline diffs for edits, full subagent execution trees with tool traces and costs, project memory viewer for `MEMORY.md` layers, SSH remote session inspection, compaction visualization for context limits, and terminal-friendly copy/paste with one-click export to Markdown/JSON. The tool requires no API keys, wrappers, or configuration—it works with all past sessions. Available as a desktop app (macOS, Linux, Windows) or standalone Docker/Node.js server with zero outbound network calls. Not a wrapper; it does not modify Claude Code.
