About this project
Remora-cc is a Windows-based, system-tray resident application that acts as a routing bridge between supported Claude-based coding environments and OpenAI GPT agent fleets, requiring no modifications to the host environment to operate. Its core purpose is to organize AI request flow, keep work sessions focused, and support management of session costs, planning, and task execution across connected model endpoints.
To install, users must first confirm their system meets requirements: Windows 10 or 11, an active internet connection, at least 200MB of free hard drive space, and a minimum of 4GB of RAM. The installation process involves downloading the Windows installer from the project's release page, running the executable, and following on-screen prompts; a desktop shortcut for the application is created automatically once setup is complete.
Initial configuration requires users to input their relevant API keys via the application's settings menu. All API credentials are stored locally on the user's machine, with no transmission of keys to third-party servers. Once configured, the application runs persistently in the system tray, intercepting outgoing model requests from the connected coding tool and routing traffic according to pre-set user rules. Users can right-click the tray icon to pause or resume routing at any time. If internet connectivity is lost, routing automatically pauses and resumes once the connection is restored, with queued tasks processed automatically after connectivity returns.
The application includes a built-in dashboard that provides visibility into active sessions, displays per-route latency and success rate metrics, allows users to switch between connected models, and supports clearing local session history to free internal storage space.
Security is built around local processing: all model routing operations run entirely on the user's device, with no external server intercepting user code during routing. The application automatically checks for updates on startup to deliver the latest security patches. Operational guidance notes that only one instance of the application should be run at a time to avoid network port conflicts. Troubleshooting steps for startup issues include restarting the computer, verifying no other software occupies required network ports, confirming the firewall permits the application to communicate over the web, and reviewing local log files stored in the program directory for error diagnosis. Uninstallation is completed via the Windows Control Panel's Programs and Features menu, which removes the application and all associated configuration files from the system.
