About this project

Claude Status Bar (claude-statusbar, command `cs`) is a lightweight status line for Claude Code that surfaces the usage numbers users care about in a single quiet line at the bottom of the terminal, or as a floating HUD on the macOS desktop app. What it displays: - Official 5h and 7d rate-limit usage bars with reset countdowns and end-of-window projections (→NN%), described as the same numbers Claude Code enforces rather than a local estimate. - Current model and context window fill (for example Opus 4.8 · 350k/1M). - Prompt-cache countdown showing how long the cache stays warm. - Optional per-session cost, or live relay/API balance in no-quota setups. - Optional extras: git branch and diff stats, session activity, AgentParty/Codex presence, and IELTS writing-coach progress. Surfaces and appearance: - Inline statusLine in the terminal, or an always-on-top floating HUD for the Claude desktop app on macOS. - Three styles (battery-bar, capsule, hairline) and nine themes, switchable by command. - Up to three optional lines: usage, project, and mode segments. Installation and performance: - Zero-dependency install via a single prebuilt binary (macOS Apple Silicon, Linux x86_64) or a pip/uv package; auto-updates. - Windows install script uses uv via winget, no Python or admin required. - A fast mode daemon uses a native cache reader and persistent render workers, with git and network collection on bounded background queues; display ticks stay at one second while data collection follows its own schedule. - Optional per-model weekly limits can be enabled, which reads OAuth credentials read-only and queries an undocumented usage endpoint; disabled by default and cached for five minutes. Documentation covers install paths, segment reference, styles and themes, configuration keys, the desktop HUD, the daemon, no-quota mode, the AgentParty/Codex bridge, cache countdown computation, and troubleshooting. The project is MIT licensed and accepts contributions, with a test suite run via uv and pytest.
