Moon Mission Orbit Animations is an educational project that visualizes historical and current lunar missions using high-fidelity orbit data. The application features both 2D (D3.js/SVG) and 3D (Three.js) rendering modes, allowing users to explore trajectories from Earth-centered, Moon-centered, or relative frames. Key features include multi-craft mission support, realistic sunlight and terrain rendering, and a 'Joy Ride' mode for following spacecraft. The project relies on Chebyshev ephemeris products for efficient interpolation and supports advanced mission comparison modes. It is designed as a static web application with a modular architecture, separating the runtime application from mission-specific data assets. The repository includes comprehensive tools for mission configuration, automated testing with Vitest and Playwright, and CI/CD workflows for deployment.
