Ableton Note Helper is an unofficial, independent open-source tool (MIT licence) created by Tomás Laurenzo. It runs entirely in the browser with no account, installation, analytics or tracking. It provides three selectable pad layouts: iPad (13×5, chromatic fourths), iPhone (5×5, C2–C4), and Ableton Push (8×8, chromatic fourths). Users can display multiple simultaneous charts with independently selectable roots and patterns, covering scales, major-scale modes, melodic-minor modes, harmonic-minor modes, chords, arpeggios and exact voicings. Visual encoding uses blue roots, orange pattern tones, black unused naturals and grey unused accidentals. Exact voicings illuminate one physical pad per note instead of every duplicate pitch occurrence. Users can tap pads to identify chord symbols, alternative interpretations and inversions, with options to remove individual notes or clear the selection. Additional features include sharp/flat spelling, linked or independent roots, chart duplication, and persistent preferences via local storage. The app is responsive, keyboard-accessible and dependency-free. It can be run locally using a simple HTTP server. A Node.js 20+ test suite checks grid geometries, pattern definitions, chord recognition, inversions, exact-voicing placement, duplicate-pad prevention and static-page wiring. Deployment to GitHub Pages is automated from main after tests pass. The tool is not affiliated with or endorsed by Ableton; Ableton, Ableton Note and Push are used only to describe compatibility.
