About this project

Khayt (خيط, meaning "thread" in Arabic) is an Electron-based desktop application designed specifically for 3D printing production management. It replaces spreadsheets, messaging apps, and separate invoicing tools with a single offline-first solution that keeps all data on the user's machine. Core capabilities include a multi-part quoting calculator with live cost breakdown (material, machine time, electricity, labour, overhead, failure rate, margin), support for FDM and resin printing, multi-material/AMS/M MU job costing, and AI-assisted quoting using a user-provided Anthropic API key. The production queue uses a drag-and-drop Kanban board (Pending → Printing → Post-Processing → QC → Completed) with per-machine views, live printer integration (OctoPrint, Moonraker, Bambu Cloud), and failure photo capture. Invoicing covers ZATCA Phase 1 (TLV-encoded QR codes) and Phase 2 (ECDSA signing, CSR generation, FATOORA submission) for Saudi Arabia, plus bilingual EN/AR invoices, proforma and milestone invoicing, credit notes, and VAT return exports. Payments integrate Tabby, Tamara, and Stripe for BNPL, along with gift cards/store credit. Inventory tracks filament spools with FIFO/weighted-average costing, auto-deduction on order completion, reorder alerts, colour variant libraries, and multi-location support. CRM features client profiles with VAT/CR numbers, credit limits, loyalty tiers, referral tracking, and a live customer portal for order tracking. Analytics provide revenue trends, filament usage, machine P&L, break-even dashboards, cost-per-gram trends, environmental logging, acquisition sources, production heatmaps, and accounting exports (CSV, QuickBooks, Xero, Zoho). Operations tools include maintenance logs, preventive maintenance scheduling, print-farm scheduling assistance, nozzle tracking, operator time tracking, and downtime/waste logging. A built-in LAN server enables mobile access via a native iOS companion app (SwiftUI) and PWA dashboard, plus public intake forms, customer tracking pages, an online storefront with platform feeds, iCal export, and a PIN-protected REST API. The app supports 9 UI languages, full RTL for Arabic, dark/light/system themes, role-based access control, auto-backup (local + iCloud), and automatic updates via GitHub Releases. Licensed under FSL-1.1-Apache-2.0 (source-available, converts to Apache-2.0 after two years). Available for macOS (Apple Silicon), Windows (installer/portable/MSIX), and Linux (AppImage/deb).
