About this project

Kody is a personal assistant platform designed as a home for an AI agent's memory, keys, code and automations, with the goal of staying portable across compatible MCP hosts. It is built on Cloudflare Workers and the Model Context Protocol, and ships a Remix UI, Worker-based request routing, package runtime plumbing and OAuth-protected MCP endpoints. Architecture and scope The project favors a compact MCP surface with search and Code Mode execute flows rather than a large static tool catalog. It is described as a multi-user personal assistant: each signed-in user gets a fully isolated assistant covering packages, jobs, secrets, memories and related state. Tests and fixtures may seed deterministic local accounts, but no account is privileged at runtime. The README states the project is a Fair Source personal assistant platform rather than a general-purpose agent harness, and that ChatGPT is a likely primary host target while keeping the server usable from other MCP hosts where practical. Repository layout The repo is an Nx monorepo. Shared modules live in packages/shared, the origin app worker in packages/worker, with sibling workers in packages/platform-worker, packages/runtime-worker and packages/jobs-worker, plus mock Workers under packages/mock-servers. Production topology is documented in docs/contributing/architecture. The described request flow is: OAuth requests are handled first, then MCP requests, then static assets; non-asset requests fall through to the server handler and router, and client assets are bundled into packages/worker/public and served via the ASSETS binding. Tech stack Runtime: Cloudflare Workers. UI framework: Remix 3 (beta). Package manager: npm. Workspace: Nx plus npm workspaces. Database: Cloudflare D1. Session/OAuth: Cloudflare KV. MCP state: Durable Objects on kody-platform. E2E testing: Playwright. Bundler: Vite. Getting started Install dependencies with npm install and start the dev server with npm run dev. The dev server runs at localhost:3742 by default, with the CLI picking the next free port and printing the resolved URL; Wrangler handles the local Cloudflare Workers runtime and D1 database automatically. To scaffold a new project from the epicflare template instead, the README points to npx create-epicflare. Further setup paths and expectations are in docs/contributing/getting-started.md, and contributors and agents are directed to AGENTS.md for repo-specific guidance. Project intent is documented in docs/contributing/project-intent.md. Documentation and contributing The README links documentation covering setup, environment variables, optional Cloudflare integrations, project intent, developing and extending Kody, using Kody over MCP, and local development and verification. Outside pull requests require a signed inbound Contributor License Agreement; public packages published through Kody do not use that CLA.
