About this project

Bolt & Pip is a fully automated yet human-gated content pipeline for producing original children's YouTube Shorts. It creates one 45–58 second video per day featuring Bolt, a hand-built SVG robot, and Pip, his yellow bird companion. The system runs on GitHub Actions using free API tiers and open-source tools, making it cost-free to operate. The pipeline handles topic selection, script writing via Gemini or Groq, independent AI review, deterministic safety validation, text-to-speech with kokoro-js, word timing via whisper.cpp, and video rendering with Remotion. Every draft is sent to Telegram for human approval before anything is uploaded to YouTube. Weekly compilation videos are also supported. Key features include multi-language support (English and Hindi built in), persona-based channel definitions, safety checks for children's content, and a modular TypeScript codebase. The project emphasizes originality and consistency rather than content-farm tactics, with one character, voice, and visual style maintained across all videos.
