Open Video Downloader is a cross-platform desktop application that provides a graphical user interface for yt-dlp. It enables the downloading of video, audio, subtitles, and metadata from a wide range of supported websites. The application is compatible with Windows, macOS, and Linux. Key capabilities include: - Extraction of audio tracks or full video downloads. - Automatic retrieval of available captions and video metadata. - Selection of preferred resolution, frame rate, and output formats such as MP4 or MKV. - Support for downloading entire playlists. - Customization of download locations and filename templates. - A smart queueing system to manage multiple concurrent downloads. - Authentication support through browser cookies, basic authentication, and video passwords. - Automatic updates for both the application and the underlying yt-dlp engine. - Support for system light and dark themes. - Integration with desktop notifications and keyboard shortcuts for managing downloads. The software is built using a Vue 3 frontend and a Rust backend via the Tauri framework.
