About this project

THE VISSION is a daily AI newspaper with a unique design philosophy: the front page is built entirely by two deterministic tools (`tools/harvest.mjs` and `tools/digest.mjs`) that cluster and rank headlines from ~30 public feeds. There is no AI, no API key, and no model in the loop for the main branch. This is a deliberate shift from an earlier AI-written tier (18 editions, 17 Aug – 12 Sep 2026) which is now archived and moved to the `editorial-ai` branch. **Key features:** - **The Wire**: Raw headlines from ~30 public feeds, refreshed every 6 hours, no verification. - **The Digest**: The same headlines clustered, ranked, and source-attributed, refreshed 3× a day. Items are badged 'confirmed' only when two independent publishers cover them. - **Archived Edition**: 18 AI-written, verified stories, permanently archived and unchanged. - **Zero dependencies**: Pure Node.js, no `npm install`, no external services. Runs forever with no key. - **Deterministic builds**: `generated/*.json` is the source of truth; every HTML file is build output. CI asserts byte-identical rebuilds. - **Strict rules**: Nothing is invented; every story carries a source; published story IDs never change; a short edition beats a padded one. - **Original cover art**: Every cover is an original vector illustration drawn at build time, matched to the story's beat.
