About this project
Elephc is a PHP-to-native compiler that translates a subset of PHP directly into native assembly. It creates standalone binaries for macOS ARM64, Linux ARM64, and Linux x86_64, and supports cross-compiling iOS targets from a macOS host. Ordinary source code is AOT-compiled without opcode fallbacks, while optional dynamic evaluation relies on a statically linked interpreter bridge.
The project introduces specialized compiler extensions like `packed class` for flat POD records, `buffer<T>` for contiguous typed arrays, `ptr` for raw memory operations, and `extern` declarations for Foreign Function Interfaces (FFI). It supports fibers, OOP features, modern PHP types, and includes performance monitoring and native package management tools.
