About this project

Hyprland is a 100% independent dynamic tiling Wayland compositor that emphasizes both visual polish and customization. Unlike compositors built on wlroots, libweston, kwin or mutter, it implements its own stack and aims to offer bleeding-edge Wayland features. Key capabilities described in the README include: - Visual effects: gradient borders, multiple blur types, animations, glow and shadows. - Custom bezier and spring curves for animation tuning. - Powerful plugin support with a built-in plugin manager. - Tearing support intended to improve gaming performance. - Configuration reloaded instantly when saved. - Global keybinds passed to applications. - Window modes: tiling, pseudotiling, floating and fullscreen. - Special workspaces (scratchpads), window groups in tabbed mode, and fully dynamic workspaces. - Window, monitor and layer rules. - Socket-based IPC for external control and integration. - Native IME and input panel support. - Layout options including Dwindle, Scrolling, Master, Monocle, custom layouts with Lua, and custom layouts via plugins, with per-workspace layouts. The project is under fast and active development and is described as having an easily expandable and readable codebase. Installation, quick start, configuration and contribution documentation are linked from the README. The repository also credits prior Wayland compositor projects such as wlroots, tinywl, Sway, Vivarium, dwl and Wayfire as references.
