PAIA Semantic Lab is an independent research and development repository for the PAIA Semantic Engine. It is explicitly isolated from PAIA production and, per its own boundary statement, must not modify production runtime, schema, Reader, Thought Library, Capture, ANS status, or real archive data unless an authority document changes that boundary. Current state Semantic Lab v0.2 is closed at SEM-07 with execution COMPLETE and a semantic capability verdict of FAIL. That historical state is preserved in status/SEMANTIC_LAB_STATUS.yaml. PAIA-SEMANTIC-LAB-v0.3-REMEDIATION is blocked at REM-03B COMPLETE/FAIL. The active escalation package is PAIA-SEMANTIC-CATALOG-ARCHITECTURE-v0.1, which separates an owner-controlled Formal Topic Contract from a rebuildable Derived Semantic Profile layer. Its canonical state lives in status/SEMANTIC_CATALOG_ARCHITECTURE_STATUS.yaml. Where to start Current catalog-architecture work begins with the documents under docs/catalog-architecture-v0.1/: PRE_IMPLEMENTATION_FREEZE.md, DEVELOPMENT_PLAN.md, EXECUTION_PROTOCOL.md, and VERIFICATION.md, together with status/SEMANTIC_CATALOG_ARCHITECTURE_STATUS.yaml. The v0.3 remediation authority remains in docs/remediation-v0.3/ and status/SEMANTIC_REMEDIATION_STATUS.yaml. The v0.2 freeze remains the inherited product-semantic baseline. v0.3 remediates representation, retrieval/candidate generation, and Router implementation without lowering final certification thresholds. Nature of the repository This is a documentation- and status-driven research workspace rather than a packaged application. Its value lies in the structured record of experiments, verdicts, authority documents, and escalation paths. The repository does not claim production readiness; the recorded verdicts are FAIL and blocked states, and the material is best read as an audit trail for ongoing semantic-engine research.
