About this project

Calistenia is a free, open-source fitness application focused on calisthenics training, nutrition tracking, and cardio. It provides a structured six-month training program with four progressive phases, session logging with sets and reps, rest and isometric timers, inline exercise form videos, and circuit/HIIT support. Nutrition features include food and macro logging with photo capture and AI-based nutrition scoring. Cardio sessions use live GPS tracking with route, distance, and pace display, plus race and challenge goals. The app includes an AI coach that can personalize training and nutrition plans, answer questions, and adjust programs. Engagement features cover streaks, badges, achievements, social comments and reactions, push notifications, reminders, and Android home-screen widgets. Offline support is built in, with local storage fallback for data writes. Technically, it is a pnpm monorepo with a React Native + Expo mobile app, a React + Vite web PWA, shared core packages, an MCP server for AI functionality, and a PocketBase backend with SQLite storage and migration-driven schema management. Deployment is supported through a single Docker image, with GitHub Actions for mobile APK builds and web deployment. The project is MIT licensed and self-hostable.
