About this project

Redde is a mobile client for the self-hosted Hermes AI agent and for OpenAI-compatible model servers such as llama.cpp, llama-swap, vLLM, Ollama, or hosted providers. Users can talk or type, view streaming reasoning and tool use, respond to approvals and clarifying questions, and manage sessions, projects, Hermes profiles, skills, toolsets, memory files, cron jobs, and a Kanban board. Voice features include on-device speech recognition, spoken responses through the built-in voice or a Kokoro server, hands-free use, barge-in, AirPods support, CarPlay support, and configurable spoken prefixes that can add text or switch models. The app renders Markdown, code, tables, task lists, Mermaid diagrams, and math offline. It also integrates with Siri, Shortcuts, the Action Button, Control Center, widgets, Live Activities, the share sheet, and the camera; some Siri AI features require iOS 27. Three backend connections are documented: Hermes Dashboard on port 9119 for the full agent experience, Hermes API on port 8642 for shared sessions using an API key, and direct OpenAI-compatible endpoints for model chat without agent features. Profiles require Hermes 0.21 or later. The README states that Redde uses no accounts, analytics, or proprietary cloud service: requests go to the configured server, speech recognition runs on device, credentials are stored in the iOS Keychain, and the app includes Face ID locking and an offline message queue. Building requires Xcode 27 and XcodeGen; the generated Xcode project uses the internal code name Echo. Tests cover streaming, parsing, transports, Markdown, voice, profiles, and automation, with optional live tests against configured development servers. The repository also contains app extensions, CarPlay code, tests, website and push-relay components, a calendar MCP server, design assets, and documentation. The project is licensed under FSL-1.1-MIT, with each release converting to MIT after two years. The license excludes use for a competing commercial product, and the Redde name and icons are not licensed for other products.
