Termul (Terminal Ultimate Manager) is a cross-platform desktop terminal manager built on Tauri 2.0 with a React 18 and TypeScript frontend. Its central idea is treating workspaces as first-class citizens: terminals are grouped by project, each with its own workspace directory, state, and configuration. Workspace and terminal features include a pane-based split layout with resizable panes, a Windows Terminal-style tab bar supporting drag-and-drop reordering, renaming, and context menus, and automatic detection of multiple shells such as PowerShell, CMD, Git Bash, WSL, fish, and zsh, switchable per tab. Editing and file management cover a built-in code editor with syntax highlighting, file buffers, dirty-state tracking, and save/reload; a Markdown editor powered by BlockNote with live preview, table of contents, and heading navigation; inline Mermaid diagram rendering; a file tree with create, rename, delete, clipboard operations, drag-and-drop, and context menus; and live file watching. Browser and annotation tools allow embedded browser tabs inside the workspace via child webviews, plus an annotation workflow that captures browser states, labels them with severity and intent, and exports them with metadata. Power-user tooling includes a global command palette (Ctrl+K / Ctrl+Shift+P), per-project and aggregate command history with search, customizable keyboard shortcuts, a status bar showing git branch, working directory, git status, and exit code, and a custom desktop title bar. System features include a built-in auto-updater with signed artifacts, Zustand-based reactive stores for projects, terminals, layout, editor buffers, browser sessions, and settings, configurable terminal and UI preferences with theme and color customization, cross-platform packaging for Windows, macOS, and Linux, and error boundaries with fallback UI. Installation options include a Homebrew cask for macOS, a curl install script for macOS and Linux, and .exe/.msi installers from GitHub Releases for Windows. Building from source requires Bun 1.3+ and a stable Rust toolchain, with platform-specific dependencies documented for Windows, macOS, Debian/Ubuntu, and Fedora. The repository also contains a standalone Vite landing page under landing/. The stack uses Tauri plugins for filesystem, store, OS info, dialogs, clipboard, updater, and process management, with tauri-pty and xterm.js for terminal emulation, Tailwind CSS with shadcn/ui for styling, and Framer Motion for animations. A renderer-side adapter layer isolates desktop integrations from UI code. SSH support stores passwords and key passphrases in the OS keychain, uses OpenSSH known-hosts verification, and supports local port forwarding over active sessions. The project is MIT licensed.
