About this project

Monaspace is an innovative monospaced type superfamily developed by GitHub Next in collaboration with Lettermatic. It consists of five interchangeable variable-axis typefaces (Neon, Argon, Xenon, Radon, and Krypton) that are metrics-compatible, allowing developers to mix and match them for expressive typography in code editors. Key features include: - **Texture Healing**: A pioneering technique that adjusts glyph spacing to create a more uniform visual texture in code, enabled via the `calt` OpenType feature. - **Coding Ligatures**: Ten groups of ligatures (ss01-ss10) for common code patterns like `!=`, `<=`, `->`, `</`, `::`, and more, each independently toggleable. - **Character Variants**: Optional variants for digits (e.g., slashed zero), letters, and symbols via `cvNN` OpenType features. - **Nerd Fonts Support**: Static builds include Nerd Fonts icons optically aligned to Monaspace metrics. - **Multiple Formats**: Available as variable fonts, static fonts, Nerd Fonts-patched versions, and "frozen" TTF builds with features enabled by default for IDEs like Xcode and IntelliJ. - **Web Fonts**: WOFF/WOFF2 versions for web development projects. The font family supports over 220 languages with more than 6,000 unique glyphs and approximately 750,000 total glyphs. It is licensed under SIL OFL and is available for free download from the GitHub releases page.
