TUIOS (Terminal UI Operating System) is a terminal multiplexer and window manager written in Go, built on the Charm stack (Bubble Tea v2, Lipgloss v2). It runs inside an existing terminal and offers a vim-like modal interface. Core capabilities: - Multiple terminal panes that can be created, resized, dragged and organized; 9 isolated workspaces; command palette (Ctrl+P); fuzzy launcher over $PATH and desktop apps (Alt+Space); pane zoom; session rail sidebar; in-app settings page; floating popups. - Tiling: BSP tiling with spiral layout, niri-style scrolling columns, master-stack layout, optional aspect-ratio-aware auto-split, shared borders, preselection, split equalization. - Scrollback and copy mode: vim-style navigation over 10,000-line scrollback with search and yank, multi-pane copy mode, mouse-wheel scrollback, interactive scrollbar, OSC 133-aware block navigation. - Graphics and protocols: kitty graphics protocol passthrough (including shared memory and animation frame edits), sixel passthrough (experimental), kitty keyboard protocol, synchronized output (mode 2026), terminal queries. - Sessions: daemon mode with detach/reattach, session resurrection after restart, session switcher, layout templates with CLI management, SSH server mode, and a separate web terminal binary. - Agents: panes running coding agents report working/waiting/done/error state; an Inbox aggregates approvals, questions, mail and errors across sessions and machines; agents can message each other and ask questions; fleets start one prompt across several agents in separate git worktrees; resume after daemon restart; per-pane grants; an MCP server; a tmux shim for tools that drive tmux; session stash; an agent skill guide. - Machines: named hosts over ssh, Tailscale tailnet discovery, remote session attach, hosted panes running on another machine, global sessions spanning machines, agents on remote hosts with worktree pull. - Automation: tape scripting DSL for recording and replaying terminal workflows, headless tape execution, layout export to tape scripts, hooks on ten events, dock components. - Discovery: which-key popup, keybind manager and CLI doctor/explain, aggregate view of all windows, multifocus broadcast typing. - Extras: showkeys overlay, spotlight, screenshots to PNG/SVG/ANSI/HTML/text, themes (bundled and custom JSON), host colour detection, configurable backgrounds and motion, glyph sets, mouse support. Installation is available via Homebrew, AUR, Nix, an install script, go install, Docker, and prebuilt release binaries for Linux, macOS, Windows, FreeBSD and OpenBSD. Building from source requires Go 1.26.6 or newer. A true-color terminal is required; kitty graphics or sixel support is recommended.
