About this project
DexLoom is a Windows application designed to run Android APK files on iOS devices that are not jailbroken. It works by interpreting Dalvik bytecode and rendering Android UI using SwiftUI, allowing users to try out Android apps on their iPhone or iPad without needing special technical skills or coding knowledge. The project is still in progress but aims to provide a simple way to experience Android apps on restricted iOS systems.
## System Requirements
- A Windows PC running Windows 10 or later
- At least 4 GB of free disk space
- Internet connection for downloads
- An iOS device with iOS 13 or later
- USB cable to connect the iOS device to the PC
- iTunes installed on Windows for device detection
## Features
- Run Android APK files on jailed iOS devices
- Simple interface with no complex setup
- Works with most basic Android apps
- No need for jailbreaking the iPhone or iPad
- Ongoing development with regular updates
## Getting Started
1. **Download**: Visit the GitHub page and download the latest version of DexLoom (available as a ZIP file).
2. **Install on Windows**: Double-click the downloaded file, follow the installation prompts, and complete the setup.
3. **Connect iOS device**: Use a USB cable to connect your iPhone or iPad, tap "Trust This Computer" when prompted, and ensure iTunes recognizes the device.
4. **Run APKs**: Open DexLoom, click "Open APK" to select an Android APK file, then click "Run" to launch it within the iOS environment.
## Limitations
- DexLoom cannot run every APK; it works best with simple apps
- Apps requiring special hardware or Google Play services may not run correctly
- No jailbreak is required; the app runs APKs inside a controlled environment
## Troubleshooting
- Ensure the iOS device is connected and trusted
- Verify iTunes is installed and detects the device
- Close other apps on the PC that might use the device
- Use APK files from trusted sources
- Restart DexLoom or reboot the iOS device if issues persist
## Privacy
DexLoom does not collect personal data. APK files can save data on the device, but all data stays local unless the apps themselves send it elsewhere.
## File Structure
After installation, you'll find:
- `DexLoom.exe`: The main program
- `README.md`: This guide
- `config/`: Settings folder
- `logs/`: Error and usage logs
- `apk/`: Storage for APK files
