About this project
Fluent Bit is a CNCF-graduated telemetry agent and part of the Fluentd ecosystem. It is designed to collect, process, and forward logs, metrics, and traces from any source to any destination with minimal CPU and memory usage. The project supports Linux, Windows, macOS, BSD, and embedded platforms.
Key capabilities include a pluggable architecture with more than 70 built-in input, filter, and output plugins, SQL stream processing for analytics and transformations, TLS/SSL support, async I/O, and internal metrics exposed over HTTP or Prometheus. Plugins can be written in C, filters in Lua, and outputs in Go.
Fluent Bit can be built from source using CMake, Flex, Bison, YAML, and OpenSSL headers. Installation options include Linux packages, Docker images, and Windows binaries. The README reports large-scale production usage, with over 10 million daily deployments and more than 15 billion downloads, though these figures are provided by the project itself.
The repository includes unit and integration test workflows, ARM build support, and documentation at docs.fluentbit.io. It is licensed under Apache License v2.0 and accepts community contributions through GitHub, Slack, and the Fluent Bit community channels.
