OpenSEO is an open-source SEO tool designed as a lightweight, affordable alternative to commercial platforms like Semrush and Ahrefs. It provides a focused set of SEO workflows including keyword research, rank tracking, competitor insights, backlink analysis, site audits, and AI visibility monitoring. The tool emphasizes simplicity and user control, avoiding the bloat and high subscription costs of traditional SEO suites. A key differentiator is its MCP (Model Context Protocol) server integration, which allows AI agents such as Claude Code, OpenClaw, and Hermes to directly access and utilize SEO data. Pre-built Agent Skills provide reusable workflows that guide agents through SEO tasks, and users can create custom skills tailored to their needs. OpenSEO supports two self-hosting paths: Docker for personal use on a local machine, and Cloudflare for internet-facing deployments across multiple devices or teams (compatible with the free Cloudflare plan).
