About this project

This repository provides small utility scripts for Windows that automate conversion between GameCube/Wii disc images in ISO format and the RVZ format used by the Dolphin emulator. Two directions are covered: Convert_ISO_to_RVZ and Extract_RVZ_to_ISO, each offered both as a PowerShell script (.ps1) and a simpler batch file (.bat). How it works: the scripts call DolphinTool.exe, the standalone command-line utility shipped with the Dolphin emulator package, in the background. Users must supply that executable themselves, along with PowerShell (built into Windows, or cross-platform PowerShell Core) and at least one ISO or RVZ file. Configuration is done by editing a Variables block at the top of each script. For ISO to RVZ conversion the exposed settings include the DolphinTool path, input and output directories, a recursive-search flag, an overwrite-confirmation flag, an option to send successfully converted source files to the recycle bin, compression format (none, zstd, bzip, lzma, lzma2), compression level, and block size. The RVZ to ISO script exposes the path, directory, recursion, overwrite and recycle-bin options. The README warns that block sizes above 128 KB may cause emulation issues depending on the machine, notes that 32 MB is generally safe on PC, and advises backing up ROMs and testing compressed output before deleting originals. It also recommends running the scripts with administrator privileges and mentions an execution-policy line that can be removed if it causes problems. The author states the code is quick-and-dirty rather than polished, and that the project is unaffiliated with the Dolphin emulator authors. Licensed under Apache 2.0.
