About this project
qimgv is a cross-platform image viewer built with Qt, emphasizing speed, simplicity, and a clean, uncluttered UI. It supports common image formats and, via optional third-party plugins, additional formats such as JPEG-XL, AVIF, APNG, HEIF/HEIC, and RAW. Core features include high-quality scaling filters (bicubic, bilinear+sharpen) when compiled with OpenCV, a thumbnail panel, folder view mode, EXIF display, and basic image editing operations: crop, rotate, and resize. Users can quickly copy or move files to up to nine configurable destination folders using keyboard shortcuts, and run custom shell commands or scripts on the current image. The application is fully configurable: themes, shortcuts, fit modes, and scaling filters can all be adjusted in the settings. Experimental video playback is provided through libmpv. Installation packages are available for Windows (portable installer, Chocolatey, WinGet), most major Linux distributions (Arch AUR, Ubuntu, Fedora, openSUSE, Gentoo, Void, Alpine), and FreeBSD. The project accepts donations directed to Ukrainian humanitarian aid.
