Vigil is a secure password manager that provides a modern user interface for managing KeePass (.kdbx) databases. It is compatible with other .kdbx clients and supports a wide range of security and utility features. Key capabilities include: - Database & Security: Full .kdbx support, Argon2 password hashing, key file support, and YubiKey challenge-response authentication. - Credential Management: Password generation with entropy estimates, TOTP/HOTP one-time codes (via QR scan or Google Authenticator export), and passkey support. - Organization & Search: Support for tags, custom fields, entry history/revisions, and field-scoped search (e.g., title:, user:, url:). - Integration & Tools: Browser autofill via KeePassXC-Browser extension, SSH agent integration for private keys, and a security report utilizing HaveIBeenPwned to identify breached or weak credentials. - Accessibility & UX: Light and dark themes, full keyboard navigation, screen reader support, and biometric unlock (Windows Hello). - Data Portability: Import functionality for Bitwarden, LastPass, 1Password, KeePassXC, and generic CSV files, with CSV export available. The application is cross-platform (Windows, macOS, Linux) and emphasizes transparency through reproducible builds and build provenance attestations.
