About this project
zero is a Mac menu-bar app that scans connected Gmail inboxes and identifies mail that needs your attention—replies people are waiting for, failed payments, and other open loops. It keeps those conversations in the Inbox and archives the rest. Archiving is reversible: it removes Gmail's INBOX label and adds a dated undo label, so mail stays in All Mail and can be restored from zero's Undo view.
The app surfaces an Open loops panel where you can click a conversation to open it in Gmail, set it aside, or request a reply draft. Drafts are optional and reviewed before sending—nothing is sent until you click Send reply. zero runs on a schedule you choose or manually.
Classification is handled by TypeSafe's Jev AI service, which receives thread text under your own API key. Reply drafts use a separately configured agent CLI (such as Claude Code). The app does not operate a server that receives your email; it connects to Google directly from your Mac.
Requirements include an Apple Silicon Mac running macOS 26 Tahoe or later, a Gmail account, and a TypeSafe Jev API key. The installer is ad-hoc signed and not Apple-notarized. The project is licensed AGPL-3.0-or-later.
