About this project
This project proposes a complete AZERTY keyboard layout aimed at increasing French typing productivity. It focuses on the implementation of interoperable French, notably through the native integration of the narrow non-breaking space (U+202F) for major punctuation (? ; : ! « » ‹ ›) and ordinal indicators (ᵈ, ᵉ, ʳ, ˢ).
Key features include:
- The addition of a third graphic modifier, "AltFr", to facilitate the entry of numbers and non-spaced punctuation.
- Simplified management of diacritic capitals (É, À, Ç, È) directly accessible via the Shift key.
- The introduction of a "VerrMod" toggle (ASCII mode lock) to switch quickly between French mode and a mode optimized for ASCII characters.
- A redesign of Caps Lock into "Verrouillage Capitales" to allow consistent entry of capital letters without affecting other keys.
- Extended support for various types of dashes (em dash, en dash) and specialized hyphens.
The project provides resources for implementation under Windows and Linux, and offers variants adapted to other languages of the Francophonie (Breton, Bambara, etc.).
