PhotoGIMP is a configuration patch for GIMP 3.0 and newer that rearranges the interface to resemble Adobe Photoshop, helping users transition from Photoshop to the free and open-source image editor. It replaces GIMP's configuration files to provide a Photoshop-like tool layout, Photoshop keyboard shortcuts based on Adobe's official Windows documentation, a custom splash screen, maximized canvas space, and a dedicated application icon and name on Linux. The patch modifies files such as shortcutsrc, toolrc, sessionrc, dockrc, gimprc, contextrc, templaterc, theme.css, and adds a custom splash screen. It does not alter personal brushes, fonts, gradients, or plug-ins. Installation is supported on Linux (including Flatpak and distribution packages), Windows, and macOS, with backup instructions provided for each platform. A Chocolatey package is also available for Windows users. PhotoGIMP requires GIMP 3.0 or newer and is not compatible with GIMP 2.x. Uninstalling is done by deleting GIMP's configuration folder so it regenerates defaults, or by restoring a backup. The project is licensed under GPL v3 and welcomes bug reports, pull requests, and translations.
