About this project

Garage is an S3-compatible distributed object storage service designed for self-hosting at a small-to-medium scale. It is specifically architected for storage clusters composed of nodes running at different physical locations, enabling easy data replication across these sites to ensure availability even when some servers are unreachable. The service focuses on being lightweight, easy to operate, and highly resilient to machine failures. It is released as free software under the AGPLv3 license.
