About this project

LyricsX is an open-source lyrics application for macOS 10.11+ that provides synchronized lyrics display for various music players. It automatically searches and downloads live lyrics from multiple online sources via the LyricsKit library, and integrates with supported players through the MusicPlayer framework. Key features include desktop and menubar lyrics display with customizable font, color, and position; lyrics offset adjustment via status menu; song navigation by double-clicking lyric lines; drag-and-drop import/export of lyrics files; automatic launch and quit with the music player; and automatic conversion between Traditional and Simplified Chinese. The app uses a custom LRCX lyrics format supporting word-level time tags and multi-language translations, while maintaining compatibility with standard LRC files. Installation options include Homebrew Cask, Mac App Store, and manual downloads from GitHub releases. LyricsX is built on several open-source components including LyricsKit for lyric fetching, MusicPlayer for player integration, SwiftyOpenCC for Chinese conversion, and various Swift utilities. Companion projects exist for iOS (LyricsX-iOS) and Linux (lyricsx-cli), both in early development.
