About this project
React Bits is an open-source collection of animated, interactive, and customizable React components designed to help developers build memorable websites more efficiently. The library contains over 165 components spanning text animations, general animations, UI components, and backgrounds, with new additions released weekly.
Key features include minimal dependencies for lightweight, tree-shakeable usage, full customization via props or direct source editing, and four variants per component covering JavaScript and TypeScript with either CSS or Tailwind styling (JS-CSS, JS-TW, TS-CSS, TS-TW). All components are copy-paste ready for integration into modern React projects.
Installation is supported through shadcn and jsrepo for CLI-based setup, with each component page providing ready-to-use CLI commands. Developers can also manually copy code after selecting their preferred technology stack.
Beyond components, React Bits offers three free creative tools: Background Studio for exploring and exporting animated backgrounds as video, image, or code; Shape Magic for creating inner rounded corners between shapes and exporting as SVG, React code, or clip-path code; and Texture Lab for applying 20+ effects (noise, dithering, ASCII) to images and videos with high-quality export.
The project is maintained by David Haz and is licensed under MIT + Commons Clause for both personal and commercial use. Official community ports exist for Vue.js (vue-bits.dev) and Svelte (sveltebits.xyz). The project accepts community contributions and feature requests through its GitHub repository.
