About this project

YALCE / YLC (Yet Another Live-Coding Environment) is a functional programming language bundled with libraries for audio synthesis and OpenGL graphics. The project states its aim as being small, simple and performant, with a minimal feature set and seamless C interoperability. Key features listed by the project: - Functional programming with OCaml-like syntax and first-class functions - Type inference via a Hindley-Milner type system with polymorphism - LLVM JIT compilation to native targets - An interactive REPL for iterative development and live coding - Pattern matching with algebraic data types - Coroutines for generators and async iteration Installation options include a Homebrew formula for macOS (brew install crawdaddie/yalce/yalce) or building from source: clone the repository, run ./setup.sh, run make, then symlink the built ylc binary into a directory on your PATH. Documentation is organized into getting started, core concepts, examples and a language reference. README examples show Fibonacci implemented with pattern matching, first-class functions used to write list reversal and list mapping helpers, and a small module-based test comparing a mapped list against an expected result. The syntax uses let bindings, fn lambdas, match expressions with | branches, list cons (::) and the pipe operator (|>).
