cove

Cove is a native media streaming application for Linux, Windows, macOS, and Android (including Android TV). It combines a personal media library, discovery features, extensible sources, and hardware-accelerated playback in one interface. Key features include personalized recommendations based on watch history and ratings, search and trending content, profile-scoped libraries with favorites and progress tracking, and support for multiple local profiles with optional Trakt or Simkl sync. Playback uses the mpv engine with direct HTTP and torrent support, automatic stream selection by quality or speed, and configurable intro/recap/credits skipping. Cove supports Stremio-compatible addons for catalogs, streams, subtitles, and metadata, plus opt-in Nuvio-compatible scrapers and signed desktop plugins with permissions. It is local-first, with optional account sign-in. Platform distributions include AUR and Flatpak for Linux, installer and portable ZIP for Windows, an ad-hoc signed DMG for Apple silicon macOS, and a single APK for Android phones, tablets, and TVs. The project is built with Kotlin Multiplatform and Compose, with a shared application graph across desktop and mobile hosts. It is licensed under AGPL-3.0.
