About this project

Rust Hover Preview is a Windows 11 system tray application that provides instant file previews in File Explorer. When you hover your mouse over a file or navigate with arrow keys, a preview appears beside the item. The app supports a wide range of formats including images, videos, PDFs, Office documents, archives, ebooks, fonts, and more. Key features include: - Mouse-hover and keyboard-navigation previews - Pin mode to turn a preview into a standalone window that can be moved, resized, and kept on top - Content-based preview detection (not just file extensions) - Configurable scaling from 25% to 400% or fit-to-screen - Tray menu and hand-editable config.ini - DPI aware, single-instance, and light on idle CPU Optional dependencies extend format support: FFmpeg for video/audio, Windows codec extensions for HEIC/AVIF/JPEG XL, LibreOffice for CorelDRAW and other documents, ImageMagick for camera raw, PeaZip for niche archives, and Calibre for ebooks. The tray menu offers extensive customization: preview types, pin behavior, text themes, timing delays, placement options, scaling per format, background choices, volume control with normalization, and performance settings like caching and decode budgets.
