aft

AFT (Agent File Tools) is a Rust binary with thin adapters for coding agent harnesses like OpenCode, Pi, and OMP. It enhances agents by replacing built-in tools (read, write, edit, bash, grep) with more efficient, structure-aware versions, and adds a family of `aft_` tools. It provides sensory capabilities (outline, zoom, semantic search, call graph, code health inspection), motor capabilities (symbol-aware edits, imports, AST-based search/replace), and brainstem functions (background tasks, PTY sessions, output compression, undo stack). It supports many languages via tree-sitter, uses a JSON-over-stdio protocol, and persists data in a shared CortexKit storage root. Setup is via `npx @cortexkit/aft@latest setup`, and configuration is optional via `aft.jsonc`. The project is part of the CortexKit family, with Magic Context for memory and Alfonso (coming soon) for executive control.
