The .NET MAUI Community Toolkit is a community-created collection of common elements for development with .NET MAUI, covering extensions, advanced UI/UX controls and behaviors that developers tend to replicate across multiple apps. It aims to simplify and demonstrate common developer tasks when building MAUI apps. Features are contributed by the community and maintained by a core set of maintainers, with the possibility that some features may later be promoted into the official .NET MAUI library. Installation is done through NuGet packages, including CommunityToolkit.Maui, CommunityToolkit.Maui.MediaElement, CommunityToolkit.Maui.Maps and CommunityToolkit.Maui.Camera. Pre-release builds are hosted on GitHub Packages and require a personal access token with read:packages scope. Getting started involves calling UseMauiCommunityToolkit() in MauiProgram.cs, and XAML usage relies on the toolkit namespace http://schemas.microsoft.com/dotnet/2022/maui/toolkit. Documentation is hosted on Microsoft Learn. The project has no fixed delivery roadmap; work is done by the community and maintainers in their spare time, with proposals tracked on a project board. New features follow a defined workflow: discussion, proposal issue, championing by a core team member, majority approval, pull request review, sample addition, documentation submission, and finally merge. The project follows the .NET Foundation Code of Conduct and is supported by the .NET Foundation.
