About this project
Kiln is an open-source MCP server for 3D printing that connects AI agents such as Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or any MCP client to real printers. It supports Bambu Lab, Creality, Prusa, Elegoo, Voron, Sovol, AnkerMake, Artillery, FlashForge, QIDI, RatRig, and SparkX through OctoPrint, Moonraker/Klipper, PrusaLink, Duet/RepRapFirmware, and direct USB/Marlin backends.
The project provides a natural-language-to-physical-object workflow: an agent can generate or import a model, analyze printability, auto-orient it, repair meshes, split oversized parts, decorate surfaces with images/text/QR codes, slice with PrusaSlicer/OrcaSlicer/BambuStudio, run preflight checks, start and monitor prints, and recover from failures. It also supports model search on MyMiniFactory and Cults3D, Craftcloud fulfillment, and CLI usage with commands such as discover, auth, status, upload, print, slice, wait, snapshot, history, park, and home.
Kiln is distributed as the Python package kiln3d and can be installed with pip, uvx, or npx. It includes a free tier, paid tiers with Git-for-3D versioning, signed releases, fleet workflows, and enterprise features. The README documents setup for Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Codex, OpenRouter-compatible models, Linux/WSL 2, Ethernet-only printers, and Bambu TLS/webcam handling. It also lists tuned profiles for 70 printer models across 15 brands and describes safety profiles, G-code validation, and audit logging.
