About this project

C64 Commander is a cross-platform application for Android, iOS, and self-hosted web deployment that controls and manages Commodore 64 Ultimate hardware (C64 Ultimate, Ultimate 64 Elite I/II, and Ultimate-II+(L) cartridges) over a local network. The app provides a unified dashboard for controlling the machine, drives, printer, SID mixer, lighting, and media streams. Users can browse and edit the full C64 Ultimate configuration, mount disk images, manage multi-disk collections, inspect image contents, and create blank disks. A remote input screen offers joystick and keyboard controls, while Live View streams audio and video from the running machine. Media playback includes playlists from local files, device storage, HVSC, or CommoServe. SID Radio generates endless playlists of similar SID tunes with mood and taste-based selection. The built-in player can also run entirely on the phone without any network connection. Demo Mode allows the app to run on any device without hardware attached, using a simulated C64 Ultimate for exploration. Setup requires installing the app, enabling network services on the C64 Ultimate (Web Remote Control, FTP File Service, Telnet Remote Menu), and connecting both devices on the same local network. The Docker web deployment supports linux/amd64 and linux/arm64, including Raspberry Pi. Features include guided tours, seven appearance color styles plus Light/Dark themes, adaptive display profiles for small/standard/large screens, hardware keyboard and keypad navigation, and diagnostics for connection health and latency. Multiple devices can be saved and switched between.
