About this project
Hevy MCP Server is an open-source Model Context Protocol (MCP) server for the Hevy fitness and workout tracking app. It lets AI assistants read, analyze, create, and update Hevy workouts, routines, exercise templates, and body measurements through authenticated Hevy API requests. A Hevy API key, available with Hevy PRO, is required.
The server registers 23 tools across categories including training analysis, workouts, routines, routine folders, exercise templates, exercise history, body measurements, and diagnostics. Read-only tools support exploration, while create and update tools are exposed with MCP mutation annotations so compatible clients can request confirmation. The Hevy API currently exposes no delete endpoints, so no delete tools are provided.
Users can connect through a hosted Cloudflare Streamable HTTP endpoint at https://mcp.hevy-mcp.dev/mcp, which requires sending the Hevy API key as a bearer token, or run locally via npx, bunx, or Docker. The hosted endpoint supports OAuth 2.1 for clients like Claude.ai that cannot send fixed headers. A separate CLI package, @chrisdoc/hevy-cli, provides terminal access to workouts, routines, exercises, and body measurements.
The repository is organized as a workspace with packages for the Hevy client, domain operations, MCP core, Node.js stdio adapter, Cloudflare Worker adapter, and standalone CLI. The public HevyClient is Promise-based, while internal operations use Effect for retry schedules, timeouts, and interruption handling. Tool input and response contracts use Zod schemas.
