About this project

Tunarr is a self-hosted application that transforms personal media libraries into custom live TV channels. It connects to Plex, Jellyfin, Emby, or local file directories, allowing users to build channel lineups with drag-and-drop scheduling, filler content (commercials, music videos, prerolls), and per-channel branding. Channels are exposed as a spoofed HDHomeRun tuner for direct integration with Plex, Jellyfin, and Emby Live TV, or as M3U playlists compatible with IPTV clients like Tivimate, UHF, Dispatcharr, Threadfin, and xTeVe. A web-based TV guide provides schedule viewing, and streams can be played directly in the browser. Hardware-accelerated transcoding supports Nvidia NVENC, VAAPI, Intel QuickSync, and macOS VideoToolbox with multiple configurable profiles per channel. Deployment options include Docker Compose, standalone binaries for Linux/macOS/Windows, Unraid Community App, Proxmox LXC script, and ARM64 Docker images. The project is written in TypeScript/React (frontend) and Go (backend), licensed under Zlib, with active community support via Discord and GitHub.
