About this project

Diple is a native macOS app (macOS 14+, Swift 6, no dependencies) that lives in the MacBook notch and shows the pull requests waiting on you. It stays invisible when there is nothing to do, and when someone replies to you on a line of code, it grows out of the bezel, shows who and where, and lets you answer without opening anything. Key features: - **Notch as the app**: Shows a dimmed zero when nothing is waiting, lights up with the count when there is something. Hover to open the queue, your team, ranking, and streak. On Macs without a notch, the panel floats under the menu bar. - **Reply from the notification**: When someone replies to you on a line of code, the banner carries the reply box and a Resolve button. You answer from the notification; the thread updates on GitHub. - **Distinct sounds per event**: Glass for a reply, pop for a comment, purr for a review request, basso for a broken check. Approvals arrive silently. - **Obligations only**: The queue holds reviews someone asked of you and replies waiting on your answer. Your own PR shows up only when somebody actually replied to you on it. - **Stacks stay stacks**: Dependent branches are grouped, numbered, and labelled bottom to top. - **Every repository you belong to**: Grouped by organisation, searchable, each with its own list of open PRs split into Ready and Draft. Star any to watch it. - **Your rhythm**: Ranking over the last week, month or quarter, a contribution grid, and a streak. **Review with your own Claude**: Diple has no AI of its own. It drives your Claude Code session, with your skills and your repository's CLAUDE.md, in a throwaway worktree. Findings come back anchored to the diff as drafts. Nothing is published — structurally, not just by promise: the allowed tools are read-only (Read, Grep, Glob, Bash for git diff/log/show/status), and disallowed tools include Write, Edit, Bash(gh), Bash(git push), Bash(git commit), and WebFetch. It cannot publish. **Install**: One-line curl script (checks checksum, no security dialog), Homebrew cask, or from source with `make install FLAVOR=release`. Requires GitHub CLI signed in (`gh auth login`); Diple borrows that token. **Privacy**: Sends anonymous usage counts to PostHog (on by default, off in one click, or `DO_NOT_TRACK=1`). Never sends your GitHub login, repo names, PR numbers, code, diffs, comments, or location. Events ask PostHog to skip IP geolocation. **Development**: `make run`, `make install`, `make tools`, `make probe`, `make film` (records the notch without Screen Recording permission). `--demo` serves fixtures instead of GitHub. No `.xcodeproj`; the whole project is Swift Package Manager plus a Makefile. **Built with**: SwiftUI + AppKit, NSPanel for the notch, one aggregated GraphQL query per sync, versioned JSON storage, no dependencies. **Not there yet**: Device flow (so `gh` is not required), watched repositories feeding new PRs, rate-limit state when Claude plan runs out, notarised builds. **Name**: Diple (διπλῆ, "double") is the mark `⟩` that scholars at the Library of Alexandria drew in the margin to say "look at this line" — the first formal system of review marks, third century BC.
