Calypso is the new WordPress.com front-end — a beautiful redesign of the WordPress dashboard built as a single-page web application powered by the WordPress.com REST API. It is designed for reading, writing, and managing all of your WordPress sites from one place. The application is built with JavaScript, using a lightweight Node plus Express server on the backend, and React.js, Redux, wpcom.js, and other libraries on the frontend. ### Getting Started You can try Calypso on WordPress.com, explore the code on GitHub, or run it locally. To run locally: 1. Install git, node, and yarn. 2. Clone the repository. 3. Add `127.0.0.1 calypso.localhost` to your local hosts file. 4. Run `yarn` and then `yarn start` from the root directory. 5. Open `calypso.localhost:3000` in your browser. More detailed installation instructions are available in the project docs. ### Contributing Calypso welcomes contributions in many forms — bug reports, feature suggestions, code submissions, and testing. The project has a CONTRIBUTING guide with technical details to help smooth the process. It follows the Contributor Covenant code of conduct and is committed to being welcoming to contributors from all backgrounds. Users can also help test new features through the Horizon beta program. ### Security Security vulnerabilities should be reported through Automattic's security bug bounty site at hackerone.com/automattic.
