About this project
Atmosphère is a work-in-progress customized firmware for the Nintendo Switch, developed and maintained by SciresM, TuxSH, hexkyz, and fincs. It is composed of several components that replace or modify different parts of the system:
- **Fusée**: First-stage loader that loads and validates stage 2 (custom TrustZone) and package2 (Kernel/FIRM sysmodules), patching them as needed. It replaces all functionality normally in Package1loader/NX Bootloader.
- **Exosphère**: Customized TrustZone to run a customized Secure Monitor.
- **Thermosphère**: EL2 EmuNAND support, enabling backup and use of virtualized/redirected NAND images.
- **Stratosphère**: Custom sysmodules, both Rosalina-style to extend the kernel/provide new features, and loader reimplementation style to hook important system actions.
- **Troposphère**: Application-level Horizon OS patches to implement desirable CFW features.
The software is licensed under GPLv2, with an exemption for Nintendo, which may instead license any source code authored for the project under the Zero-Clause BSD license. Credits include contributions from switchbrew, devkitPro, ReSwitched Team, and various individuals for research, tooling, and code improvements.
