About this project

dob-selector is a novelty date picker that replaces traditional input fields with an interactive orbital mechanic. Users select their birth date by dragging a planet Earth around the Sun along an elliptical path governed by Kepler's Laws. Each full orbit corresponds to one calendar year. Clockwise rotation advances years; counterclockwise retreats them. The interface features a vintage computer terminal aesthetic with monospace green-on-black styling reminiscent of early CRT displays. Key capabilities include responsive touch support for mobile devices, accurate elliptical orbital visualization, and a live preview hosted at the project page. It is a single-purpose web application designed primarily as an engaging alternative to standard calendar date inputs, prioritizing visual novelty and interactivity over utility breadth.
