About this project
ping6.it is an open-source web application designed for quick, reproducible IPv4 vs IPv6 troubleshooting. It runs the same network measurement over both IP versions on the same set of probes and presents a side-by-side comparison, making it easy to identify reachability gaps, latency deltas, loss anomalies, and routing asymmetries.
The tool supports two measurement backends: Globalping (default) for fast, lightweight measurements, and RIPE Atlas (experimental) for broader probe availability. Supported commands include ping, traceroute, mtr, DNS, and HTTP (with some commands limited to specific backends).
Key features include fair v4/v6 comparison by pinning both runs to the same probes, geographic and network-type filtering, probe selection by ASN or ISP, multi-target mode for running the same command over multiple targets, per-probe sortable tables with summary statistics (medians, p95, and deltas), ASN details with RIPEstat data including RPKI validation breakdowns, JSON and CSV exports, shareable links, report mode for embedding results, and local browser history with run-to-run comparison.
The application is built on Cloudflare Pages with Pages Functions, using Cloudflare Turnstile for abuse prevention and optional KV bindings for caching and rate limiting. It is licensed under AGPL-3.0-or-later for source code and CC BY-NC 4.0 for documentation.
