About this project

This repository packages a dedicated Insurgency: Sandstorm server as a Docker image, intended for admins who want to run COOP or PVP servers with their own configuration. The image is rebuilt when the Steam app or upstream base image changes, so container contents do not need manual updating. Two image variants are offered: a full `latest` tag and a smaller `lite` tag that stores game data on a mounted disk path. Servers can be launched with `docker run` or via the included `docker-compose.yml`. Multiple instances are supported by varying PORT, QUERYPORT and HOSTNAME, with launch parameters supplied through an env file (`modmap.env`). Example INI and TXT config files are provided in the `config` directory and mounted read-only into the container. Mod support centers on mod.io. Since game update 1.20 the server logs in to mod.io with a one-time emailed code; the old AccessToken approach is no longer used. The container handles login: set MODIO_EMAIL, list mod IDs in Mods.txt, and supply the code via `docker exec <container> modio code <CODE>` (or MODIO_SECURITY_CODE). Helper subcommands include `modio login`, `modio status`, `modio sync --dry-run` and `modio reset`. Each server needs its own mod.io account and volume. A `seccomp-modio.json` profile must be downloaded to the host and passed with `--security-opt`, because Docker 25+ blocks the `io_uring` syscalls the game's mod.io SDK uses; the profile is Docker's default plus rules for `io_uring_setup`, `io_uring_enter` and `io_uring_register`. Optional launch flags include `-NoEAC` to disable Easy Anti-Cheat and `-nominidumps` to disable crash dump uploads. An AutoUpdater directory provides scripts and a systemd unit that compare game and ISMC mod versions and restart the server when updates appear; rcon-cli is a stated requirement. A tips section describes using KSM (`-useksm -ksmmergeall` plus `/sys/kernel/mm/ksm/run`) to share memory between multiple UE4 servers on one host, with instructions for reading KSM statistics. Troubleshooting notes cover missing seccomp files, permission errors, expired codes and mod download issues.
